)-- Earning the highest possible customer satisfaction rating of 5 stars for two straight years has won consecutive CMUS Talk of the Town Customer Satisfaction Awards for TLC Home Health, Inc.
The Talk of the Town Awards, presented by Talk of the Town News, Customer Care News magazine and Celebration Media U.S. (CMUS), honor companies and professionals that provide excellent customer service as reported by their customers through no-cost, user-review websites, blogs, social networks, business rating services, and other honors and accolades. TLC Home Health, Inc. was founded in 2003 to assist families in the greater Richmond/Tri-City area with caring for their loved ones. The organization provides personal care services to seniors and disabled non-seniors within the community, including bathing, dressing, eating, feeding, toileting, laundry, assisting with medications, light housekeeping, shopping and transportation services. Tamara Y. Blow, EdD, RN, COHN-S/CM, CBM, PLNC, FAAOHN, established the agency after her experience serving as the primary caregiver to her mother-in-law, who had Alzheimer’s. “This mission is accomplished by treating employees and clients like family,” says Dr. Blow, and is one of the main factors that contributed to winning consecutive customer satisfaction awards. The culture of caring is fostered by the cohesive family atmosphere that is created by President and CEO Dr. Blow. This caring culture then trickles down to the office staff, caregivers and to the clients.
“We view the client as an extended family and care about every life event that the client experiences,” says Dr. Blow. “We go beyond the hands and reach the heart. If a client requests prayer, we pray with them. If a client needs food and has limited funds, we make sure they have food.”
Other factors Dr. Blow credits for the high customer satisfaction ratings include communication, responsiveness and hiring the right caregivers. “We solicit monthly customer service feedback to ensure the client is pleased with our services, and our RN staff performs regular house visits to make sure the caregiver is performing according to the client’s expectations,” she says.
“More importantly, excellent customer service means providing quality care,” says Dr. Blow. “Quality care starts with being selective. Our caregiver staff is carefully screened to ensure that they have appropriate reference checks, background clearance and clinical skills. Once they are hired, our caregivers receive monthly continuing education and annual performance assessments. We retain those employees who adhere to the company's mission and culture of caring.”
