Million Puppet March Returns to DC for Presidential Inauguration Parade

Washington, DC, DC, January 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Million Puppets announced that the Million Puppet March is returning to Washington, DC, for the Presidential Inaugural Parade on January 21, 2013 as part of their ongoing efforts to show support for public broadcasting. Participants can also march virtually using social media and the organization’s new free mobile app on iTunes and Google Play.

Marchers will assemble at 2:30pm ET along the Inaugural Parade Route’s south side in the park at 500 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, east of the Federal Trade Commission Building.

“We still see the need to voice support for continued funding of public media, especially with the fiscal cliff implications,” said Million Puppets co-founder, Chris Mecham. “The Inauguration offers a great opportunity for our puppets to keep marching to make a difference,” said co-founder, Michael Bellavia.

The Million Puppet March was created as a broad-based, non-partisan response to Mitt Romney’s mention of Big Bird and his suggestion to discontinue funding to public broadcasting as a means to reduce the deficit. It garnered worldwide and was recognized by CNN as one of the 21 influential factors in the presidential election. Numerous diverse celebrities as wells as the Broadway cast of Avenue Q voiced support as well.

In addition to the Inaugural Parade, in 2013 Million Puppets will release an album of original music, a documentary film and participate in a variety of festivals, performances and other actions using puppets to make a difference in the world.
