Evergreen, CO, March 03, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- Florida-based transit agency, Citrus Connection, has found that utilizing Cryoserver archiving software
gives them an added benefit.
On top of having fast access to critical information and experiencing time and cost savings, Citrus Connection is able to use Cryoserver mail archiving
to comply with a Florida state regulation.
"Our agency is required to meet the terms of the Florida Sunshine Law," says Citrus Connection Executive Director Tom Phillips. "Cryoserver has made that process much easier."
The Florida Sunshine Law was enacted in 1967. The regulation provides a right of access to both state and local governmental proceedings. The law is applied to any meeting of two or more members subject to the Sunshine Law to discuss matters, which will come before the governing board for action.
The Sunshine Law provides for a right of access to existing public records. Electronic archiving systems
are now necessary to meet the requirements of the Sunshine Law because email has become a common form of written communication.
The law applies to "any board or commission of any state agency or authority or of any agency or authority of any county, municipal corporation or political subdivision." It applies equally to elected or appointed boards or commissions. Citrus Connection is governed by a board of directors consisting of multiple city and county public officials, it is required to comply with the Sunshine Law.
"Many regulations now require that written communication and emails for government business be archived and accessible for public viewing," says Robin Bingeman, of Forensic & Compliance Systems, the makers of Cryoserver and backup exchange email services
. "Cryoserver offers a convenient solution to these types of requirements."
