Columbus, OH, March 08, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- The Digital Gryphon LLC announces the launch of Digital Gryphon Publishing and the Four Dozen series of books and related merchandise. The series will preserve and distribute poetry, fiction, photography & other visual art created by self-identified LGBT authors and artists born before 1966.
Publisher Brian Gryphon notes that “most publishers who market to LGBT communities are publishing collections of erotic stories or current 'coming of age' stories.” While such works are important, Mr Gryphon says “they are modern material that don't help the new generation of queers understand their history.”
People born before 1966 are the last of pre-Marriage Equality generations of queer folk. Born before the Stonewall Riots, most “came of age” before there was wide-spread acceptance of the concept of “gay rights.” At the same time many “came out” just before or during the onslaught of the aids crisis.
The first Call For Submissions for the Four Dozen project is scheduled to be issued by the end of this month, after the conclusion of the publisher's crowd-funding project on-line at Fanblaze.com. Although “print on demand” and “eBook” technologies may reduce the investment required in inventory, expenses ranging from ISBN numbers to marketing and promotion are still required to be a successful publisher.
The Digital Gryphon LLC has already published two works of poetic prose (including one by Mr Gryphon) that will be re-issued as volumes of the Four Dozen project. Other titles in print include 1 Out Of 10 Therapists: The Poetry of Romanovsky & Phillips Lyrics, published on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the famous gay folk duet.
