Nine of Karamanis's tales, starting with "Out of the Nest" and ending with "The Doctor is Out," take us through the fictitious life a boy whose hectic and difficult childhood barely prepares him to leave home and find his way.

Karamanis was born in Portland in 1950 and now lives in Astoria. He has been a teacher, a landscaper, an executive headhunter, and a freelance writer.
