Writers Gather for Creating a Writing Life Summer Retreat

Mystic author, Lisa Saunders and Carolina Fiber and Fiction Center co-founder, Grace Farrell will be guest speakers this year at the Creating a Writing Life Retreat for Emerging Writers. Creating a Writing Life programs have been ongoing for six years, giving writers a place honor their literary work. The full day retreat includes nourishment for the body and soul in a positive, encouraging atmosphere, bringing writers of all abilities and genres together.

Mystic, CT, July 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Mystic author, Lisa Saunders and Carolina Fiber and Fiction Center co-founder, Grace Farrell will be guest speakers this year at the Creating a Writing Life Retreat for Emerging Writers. Creating a Writing Life programs facilitated by writer Patricia Ann Chaffee, have been ongoing for six years, giving writers a place honor their literary work. The full day retreat includes nourishment for the body, soul and creative spirit in a positive, encouraging atmosphere, bringing writers of all abilities and genres together to celebrate and improve their craft.

“Participants often leave inspired and ready to take their writing to another level,” said Chaffee. “They make connections with other writers in a small group setting and share time with talented, successful guest authors.”

Saunders is an award-winning writer and TV co-host who works as a history interpreter at Mystic Seaport. A graduate of Cornell University, she is the author of several books and winner of the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations Gold Medallion. Although offered a publishing contract for her recently released book, Mystic Seafarer's Trail, a humorous and historical look at Mystic, CT, Saunders chose to self-publish.

Grace Farrell is a writer and weaver, and author of five books and numerous essays. She holds a Ph.D in English and American Literature from Brown University and is founder of the Writers' Studio at Butler University. Farrell is a resident of Charlestown, Rhode Island, and an Award-winning teacher of writing and literature in universities for 35 years. She is co-founder of the Carolina Fiber and Fiction Center in Rhode Island where she guides and inspires a group of talented writer’s during her Tuesdays at 10 program.

The all-inclusive retreat is being held Saturday, July 20th from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m, .and the cost is $145 with an early bird discount for registering by July 10. A portion of the proceeds this year will be donated to the American Stroke Association, an organization dedicated to prevention, diagnosis and treatment to save lives from stroke — America’s No. 4 killer and a leading cause of serious disability.
