American Marketer of the Year (AMY) Awards – 2013 Winners Announced

San Diego Chapter of American Marketing Association Recognizes Local Excellence in 11 Categories.

San Diego, CA, July 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The local chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) tipped its hat recently to the best marketing efforts of the past year, bestowing American Marketer of the Year (AMY) awards on professionals in eleven categories.

Hosting the AMY Awards event at House of Blues San Diego, the San Diego AMA recognized the agencies, corporations and individuals who have helped promote local products and services. Entries are judged by marketing professionals who meet strict criteria and specialize in each award category.

The Marketer of the Year award for the best entry received this year went to San Diego Tourism Authority for their Kids Free San Diego campaign.

In the Advertising category for print, radio and TV advertisements produced for media on a paid-placement basis, Big Bike Group took home the trophy for their Pop-Up Restaurant campaign.

The Cause Marketing category is new in 2013 and is awarded to the best in class for any type of campaign put forth by a not-for-profit company. This year’s winner is FEED. The Agency for National Breast Cancer Reconstruction Day.

In the category of Direct Response, which is awarded for any printed piece designed to solicit a specific, immediate response by the target audience and sent through a paid postal carrier, The Agency Inside Harte-Hanks & SONY won the award for the Sony Pinterest Email Integration campaign.

The Green Marketing award went to SANDAG - San Diego Association of Governments for Rideshare 2012. The Green Marketing award is for marketing of products or services that are presumed to be environmentally safe.

The Integrated Marketing award is for a comprehensive program/campaign that capitalizes on the integration of creative marketing strategies and tactics along with other communication tools. The winner in this category in 2013 is San Diego Tourism Authority for their Kids Free San Diego campaign.

Geary LSF took home the award in Mobile Marketing for The Fresh Market. The Mobile Marketing award is for the best campaign communicated via mobile channels, including SMS text, mobile-versioned website, Apple/iOS, Android, or Blackberry application.

The National Campaign award went to i.d.e.a. for International Motorcycle Show. This category includes best in class for large ad campaigns through print, radio, television (or combination), targeted at markets across the United States.

Bop Design’s Malk Sustainability Partners campaign won the award in the New Product Service Launch category. This category includes the successful development and launch of a product or service that is new to the San Diego area or has never before been marketed to a mass audience.

The Online Marketing award is for advertising creative appearing online (e.g. websites, Facebook ads) and produced for media on a paid-placement basis. San Diego Tourism Authority won this award for San Diego Fall Online.

The Social/Viral Marketing award is for marketing materials or campaign that created a phenomenon facilitating and encouraging people to pass along a marketing message; this includes campaigns through Twitter, Facebook and similar sites. Congratulations go to The Agency Inside Harte-Hanks & SONY for Sony Pinterest Email Integration.

Runners-up included Advanced Marketing Strategies; Aviatech; Find Me Gluten Free; Frank Wilson & Associates; Fuelhaus; Innovision; LPL Financial; MeadsDurket; Nuffer, Smith, Tucker; Parallax Branding Interactive; and VAVI Sport and Social Club.

“We had 75 entries this year,” said Kirsty Nunez, San Diego AMA AMY Awards Committee chairperson, “which was a record for our chapter. Many marketers feel that they work in isolation, and the AMY Awards Event is a good way for them to meet one another, make valuable connections and – why not? – show off their work to fellow marketers.”
