Great Tips to Sell Your House: Home Features That Pay Well

Homebuyers release list of preferences for homes. Do any of these surprise you?

Round Rock, TX, July 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Homes with certain features are more likely to be eye-candy for homebuyers, sources say. The National Association of REALTORS® 2013 Home Features Survey says that a 3-bedroom, 2-full bathroom home is most popular among buyers. As far as features, central air conditioning is most definitely the top priority. The survey asked 2,000 buyers to rate 33 features. The number two preference is cable/satellite TV-ready/Internet. Does your home have these features? The next 8 qualities in a home preferred by buyers is a walk-in closet in the master bedroom, ensuite master bath, new kitchen appliances, eat-in kitchen area, hardwood floors, granite countertops, Kitchen Island, and stainless steel appliances.

Some of the above features might have a high cost associated with them. Not to worry- many small fixes and features can boost a home’s look. For instance, add power outlets to any rooms that might be missing them, or replace popcorn ceilings with more modern day styles. Fresh painting also goes a long way. A good tip is to first paint exterior portions of a home, and then move to the interior. Paint any walls that look dingy or blotchy, gutters, downspouts, exterior windows, doorways, and trim. Landscaping can add 7-15% to a home’s value; therefore pay attention to what your home says. This does not mean you have to have a beautiful garden, but raking up leaves, eliminating dead plants, trimming overgrown branches, and pulling up weeds goes a long way. Doorknobs also say quite a bit about a home. Replace any corroded or dented ones. Good luck!
