Little Rock, AR, July 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Arkansas House and Senate Education Committees are scheduled to meet to discuss the implementation of the Common Core State Standards in Arkansas. The members of the committees will hear testimonies from both those who support Common Core and those who oppose it. Arkansas Against Common Core presenters include Grace Lewis, parent; Jennifer Arnold, parent; Betty Yerger, retired educator; and Patrick Richardson, student. The hearing will begin on Monday, July 22nd at 1:00 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday, July 23rd at 9:00 a.m. The meetings will be held in Room A of the MAC Building at 1 Capitol Mall in Little Rock. The meetings are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.

The Common Core State Standards Initiative has attracted national attention because of its controversial methods. The standards have been quietly implemented through federal grants without public awareness. Citizens in many states are now questioning whether the national standards violate their constitutional rights and if the standards are even adequate.
