Florida Woman Beats Odds & Places in National Senior Games

As the only woman in her family who hasn't had breast cancer, Ellen Jaffe Jones, places in the National Senior Games proving that you can "just" on a plant-based, vegan diet. At every one of the 54 5K races she's placed in over the last 7 years, she gets told that's impossible.

Holmes Beach, FL, July 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Holmes Beach, FL resident, Ellen Jaffe Jones, wins 7th in the US in the 60-64 age group at the National Senior Games with a personal record improvement of :35. She also was 10th in the 400 Meters, 16th in the 200 meters and 19th in the 100 meters. Her goal was to finish without injury (more than half who were scheduled to compete in the 400 meters "scratched" after running races the previous day) and place in the top 16 in each event.

Stories about her in the past detail her running as fast or faster than the high school girls she helped coach as a volunteer assistant at Manatee High. Ellen has placed in 54 5K races for her age group since 2006. Many National Senior Games competitors are full-time athletes. Ellen is a full-time author and personal trainer.

Ellen is the author of the bestseller, "Eat Vegan on $4 a Day," and her new book, "Kitchen Divided." She spent 18 years as a 2-Time Emmy-winning TV investigative reporter and figuring out the truth about food has become the investigative reporting job of her life.
