)-- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast has received a $30,000 gift from Wells Fargo to support its one-to-one school-based mentoring program. This generous contribution allows Big Brothers Big Sisters to continue its mission of providing children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

The organization relies on funding to carefully match at-risk youth with volunteer mentors so that the relationships yield positive results in the areas of academic performance, avoidance of risky behavior, delinquency and socio-emotional competencies such as self confidence and social relationships.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast provides one-to-one mentoring relationships to children ages 6-18 years old throughout the Gulf Coast of Florida in Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Highlands, Hardee, Charlotte, Lee, Collier, Glades and Hendry counties. Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast holds itself accountable for children in its program to achieve measurable outcomes, such as educational success; avoidance of risky behaviors; and higher aspirations, greater confidence and better relationships.
