World Of Art Showcase to Feature Raleigh Artist Carol Joy Shannon

Local Painter to Exhibit at Inaugural Raleigh Art Show

Raleigh, NC, August 30, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The World of Art Showcase (WOAS), an international art show dedicated to exhibiting talented artists and creating a community where artists have direct access to their market, has announced that Carol Joy Shannon will be a featured artist at the inaugural event Friday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 3 at the Raleigh Convention Center, located at 500 S. Salisbury Street. A Raleigh-based painter, Shannon is expected to bring a local flare to the showcase.

Shannon’s work has been displayed at multiple local venues, including the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington, N.C., the Raleigh Art Commission’s Miriam Preston Block Gallery and the United Arts Council of Raleigh, as well as in public and private collections throughout the U.S., Europe and Brazil. She is a founding member of the ChromaZones, a group of 12 regional abstract artists who create several large-format, collaborative works each year to raise funds benefiting local nonprofit groups. She is also a member of Visual Art Exchange and the Durham Art Guild, and participates in several significant juried art festivals every year, including Raleigh’s Artsplosure.

Shannon’s latest project is titled “City Series” and depicts large, colorful, architectural abstracts that convey the memories and images she has gleaned while living in various locations throughout the world. She is currently creating a foundation to utilize this project in conjunction with major U.S. cities to raise funds for organizations serving the hungry and the homeless.
