New York, NY, September 12, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- International children and media expert David Kleeman has joined global strategy, research and product group PlayCollective as Senior Vice President, Insights Programs, and PlayVangelist. Kleeman joins the firm following 25 years heading the American Center for Children and Media, a creative professional development center and executive roundtable devoted to sustainable and kid-friendly solutions.
With PlayCollective, Kleeman will lead development of a unique global “think tank” for creative, business and academic leaders involved with play, entertainment and learning for children, youth and families. He will be based out of the company’s New York office.
“At the American Center, I sat at the hub of multiple disciplines, drawing expertise from each and building connections among all,” Kleeman said. “I’m very eager to do the same with PlayCollective – to encourage greater collaboration between academia and business; to look worldwide for best practices and innovation; and to build safe spaces for sharing expertise and experiences. When our industries earn kids’ love and parents’ respect, it’s good for business.”
Kleeman is the long-time Advisory Board Chair to the international children’s TV festival, PRIX JEUNESSE; a Governor of the Television Academy representing the Children’s Programming Peer Group; and a Senior Fellow of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media. An in-demand international strategist, analyst, author and speaker, Kleeman has advised producers, broadcasters, government organizations and NGOs. He has written book chapters, strategic studies and numerous articles for trade, academic and general press, including blogs for The Huffington Post.
“PlayCollective’s unique team of thinkers and builders is constantly making fantastic discoveries about the needs and interests of today’s families,” said PlayCollective CEO and Chief Play Officer Dr. Alison Bryant. “We’re thrilled to have David Kleeman as our PlayVangelist, mining those discoveries for insights and leading new thinking toward strategies for connecting with kids and parents everywhere they play, share and learn.”
