Medical Group Adopts Health123 Wellness Software to Support Employees with Living Healthy Lifestyles

Seattle OB/GYN Group, a team of 38 medical professionals, adopts Health123 to improve employee health, morale and reduce costs. The decision was approved by the Group’s board, composed of nine doctors, who want to make health part of their workplace culture and empower employees to take control of their health.

Seattle, WA, July 10, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Health123 began a trial of their organizational wellness program with Seattle OB/GYN Group, a team of medical professionals who specialize in women’s health. The trial includes membership to Health123.com and Health123 Mobile for all employees. Each member receives individualized health assessments, laboratory blood analysis and tools to support making small lifestyle changes to improve their health.

The Seattle OB/GYN Group wanted to help their employees counter-act the pressures of the job and feel better. Like most fast-paced environments, stress is inevitable due to time-pressures and long-hours. It is easy for employees to adopt unhealthy habits, such as not eating right or sleeping well, as they make trade-offs to accommodate their work.

Chronic diseases have reached epidemic proportions in the U.S. The Center for Disease Control claims four modifiable behaviors - lack of physical exercise, poor nutrition, tobacco use and excessive alcohol consumption - account for the majority of illnesses related to chronic diseases. Seventy-five percent of health care dollars go to treating chronic diseases.

The decision to adopt Health123 was reviewed and approved by the Group’s board, a team of nine partners who are also the practicing doctors on the team. They wanted to support the staff with their efforts to live a healthier lifestyle. They believe Health123 will lift the team’s energy and morale by making health part of the work culture as well as reduce absenteeism and insurance costs.

“Health123 is a tool for us to be healthier, to help us reach our own personal goals. We liked that we don’t compete against each other or do one-time activities but rather we support each other at the office in making healthier choices. We all have things we want to work on, some privately and some we are comfortable sharing. I love that the doctors want to do this with the team,” stated Deb Behrens, office manager, who was responsible for selecting the wellness program.

Privacy of individual health data is critically important for Seattle OB/GYN Group. The team handles sensitive, confidential patient data on the job and expects the same from their employee wellness program. With Health123, only the employee can view their own health information. Employees opt-in to anonymously submit participation and high-level health data which can summarized in an organizational wellness dashboard. The organizational dashboard can only be viewed by the wellness coordinator to help them improve the wellness program and support the group with meaningful participation incentives.

“Our insurance provider gives us wellness tools too, but I am not comfortable with using them since they could use that information to raise our rates. With Health123, it is all about helping each individual to be healthier - nobody sees the health data but us. As the wellness coordinator, I won’t know if one person is stressed out but if a lot of people are, the dashboard will suggest that I do something to help. I think is a win-win for everyone - I get feedback on if my wellness program is working and where to focus my investments and the employees get targeted support that address their individual health needs. Everyone is excited to get started,” stated Deb Behrens.

“Seattle OB/GYN Group is a perfect first organization for us to get feedback on Health123.com and Health123 Mobile. If any customer is to be critical of a health assessment an organizational wellness tool, it would be a group of trained medical professionals. We are thankful for this opportunity for our team to listen and learn,” stated Rachel Lanham, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Office for Health123.
