Wake Forest, NC Based TV Producer’s Film Screens at Disney

The Emmy® nominated program, The Wereth Eleven, written and directed by Robert Child of Wake Forest screens at Walt Disney Studios in Los Angeles on November 2nd.

Wake Forest, NC, October 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The GI Film Festival LA has chosen Robert Child’s film, The Wereth Eleven, to screen at legendary Walt Disney Studios. The film won the GI Film Festival’s Founders Choice Award in 2011.

The Wereth Eleven, which was nominated for an Emmy® award in 2012 debuted on National Geographic Channel in 2011, retraces the steps taken by eleven black GI's from the 333rd Field Artillery Battalion when their unit was overrun by Germans at the start of the Battle of the Bulge. Their 10-mile trek from their battery position to Wereth, Belgium would be the last journey of their lives as a local resident turned them in to an SS scouting party. Subsequently all eleven were butchered and killed in one of the least understood, as well as unknown, war crimes of WWII.

Described as "Sundance for the Troops," GIFF LA will feature "best of GIFF" award-winning film screenings from previous GIFF festivals. "This is a proud moment for the festival, and the hundreds of filmmakers who have contributed their creative work in service of the arts and our country," said GI Film Festival co-founder Brandon Millett. "We are so honored to bring the GI Film Festival to one of the most storied and accomplished studios in the history of Hollywood."

Child who moved to Wake Forest last year with his family worked in network television in New York for more than 15 years on such programs as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Emeril Live and others. “North Carolina has reinvigorated my creative output,” Child says, and with the vibrant local economy I have consulted with companies seeking to produce their own high quality programs and video most recently with a large trade magazine publisher in Chapel Hill.”
