Broadcast Premiere of Return Flight on KRCB

San Francisco, CA, November 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The broadcast premiere of Filmmakers Collaborative SF’s latest documentary, Return Flight is on November 11, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. on KRCB (in the Bay Area channels 22 and 722 for HD) as part of the PBS series Natural Heroes.

Return Flight is a half-hour documentary that chronicles the restoration of the Bald Eagle to the Channel Islands in the face of pervasive DDT contamination. The Bald Eagle was once an important avian predator in the Channel Islands, a group of islands just off the coast of Southern California. In the early 1960’s, the bald eagle disappeared from the islands due to egg collecting, hunting, and extensive DDT contamination in the marine environment. Return Flight chronicles how a dedicated team of biologists has been working tirelessly for decades to restore the bald eagle back to the Channel Islands in the face of DDT contamination, leading to some amazing results.

Filmed over the span of several years, the documentary was produced by award-winning filmmaker Kevin White of Filmmakers Collaborative SF, and narrated by Peter Coyote. It was funded in part by the Montrose Restoration Settlements Program. The film has screened at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, the Waimea Film Festival, and many other festivals to good reviews.

Check your local listings for the screening schedule of Natural Heroes, a PBS series dedicated to broadcasting inspiring films profiling people helping our environment. Currently in its sixth season, the series is carried by more than 100 PBS stations around the United States.
