Daniel Levine: New and Unique Travel Experiences Are Trending

The trends expert explains how traditional travel plans are changing.

New York, NY, November 15, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Renowned trends expert and keynote speaker Daniel Levine is noticing a big change in the way tourists are visiting the world. While monuments and museums will always be popular, tourists are looking for ways to have experiences that were not previously available. That means going to new places, trying different things, and seeking new ways of interacting with locals.

“We’ve seen an explosion in the number of unique travel options,” says Levine, who specializes in travel industry trends. “Tourists are looking for new experiences that go beyond the ordinary.”

The promise of space travel has companies clamoring to provide services. Several private companies are offering flights that leave orbit, while another is offering a balloon that will slowly take travelers into the stratosphere. For the less adventurous, many high-end brands are getting in to the resort business. Armani, Louis Vitton, Versace, and even Whole Foods are affixing their names to five star resorts and hotels in major tourist areas.

Another train of thought for tourists is to be able to see the parts unknown and have genuine interactions with locals. This desire has sparked voluntourism, a system where individuals visit foreign locations and donate their time at food banks, orphanages, and other places of need. Other travelers are turning to food foraging, where visitors are going to farms or vineyards to harvest their meals. Meanwhile, other tourists are simply leaving town to do their regular jobs at an exotic location.

“It’s obvious that one-size-fits-all travel is becoming a thing of the past,” says Levine. “These examples of the changing tourism business show how consumers now know what they want out of a vacation and are more determined to get it.”
