)-- Southern Self Storage has purchased its first self-storage facility since the recent sale of its 21 locations to Public Storage. The company is no stranger to the self-storage industry; owner’s Peter Cowie and Robert McIntosh have successfully grown the Southern brand along with its counterpart Northern Self-Storage since 1985, with Southern operating primarily in the state of Florida while Northern Self Storage serves the Ontario, Canadian market.
Formerly “Village Self Storage”, this newest facility has 792 air and non-air-conditioned units combined. Six acres of open storage is also available for RVs, boats, cars and motorcycles. The property is conveniently located on 4150 East County Road 466, just minutes away from the Turnpike, Walmart and The Colony Plaza.
“We are very excited to start up again,” says Marketing Manager Tresha Powe. “We believe it’s very appropriate that our first facility is located here in Florida where it all began. The Villages is a great area with rapidly growing communities and we look forward to growing with them while we serve their self-storage needs.”
