Community Health Center Receives Dental Grant and New Dentist

Portsmouth, VA, March 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Hampton Roads Community Health Center was recently awarded a grant of $140,000 from the Virginia Health Care Foundation. The Virginia Health Care Foundation also known as VHCF helps uninsured Virginia residents and those living in underserved communities receive medical, dental and mental health care. With their generosity they’ve made more than 2.5 million patient visits possible across the state of Virginia.

The grant that they awarded to Hampton Roads Community Health Center will specifically support the salary of an additional full time dentist. This dentist will operate full time out of Oceanview Medical & Dental Center located at 9581 Shore Drive, Norfolk VA. There will also be about 16 hours per week dedicated to servicing public school children via the Healthy Smiles mobile dental van. It is expected that a total of 828 new dental patients should be treated within the first year of receiving this grant.

More information about the new dentist and various dental events are expected to be released in Spring 2014.
