mumms® Software Takes Compliance with CMS Change Request 8358 a Step Further with Automated RX Data Entry

mumms® Software announces full compliance with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Change Request (CR) 8358 and the ability to automate Rx Data Entry, reducing or eliminating additional work for hospices across the U.S.

New Orleans, LA, March 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- mumms® Software is keeping hospices across the U.S, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Guam/Saipan and the Cayman Islands compliant with CR 8358. In response to Medicare’s new change request, mumms® Billing Codes have already been updated to comply with all of the four major reporting requirements. For the Prescription Reporting part of CMS CR 8358, mumms® Software is taking it a step further by reducing or eliminating the manual entry needed to populate patient prescription information so there is nothing more for hospices to do.

Effective for claims with dates of service on or after April 1, 2014, Medicare will return hospice claims that do not report new required information. New requirements include line items for new GIP visit reporting, NPI# of any nursing facility, hospital or hospice IPU where patient is receiving services, new Post Mortem visit modifiers, and new prescription reporting.

mumms® Software has been providing user friendly business and clinical software to hospice and palliative care offices for 25 years and was able to easily update their billing codes to meet the new requirements. “mumms® has had the structure in place to collect this data for years,” said mumms® CEO, Leo Radosta. “All we had to do, was make it visible to our users.”

mumms® took usability a step further for the prescription reporting requirement. mumms® Pharmacy Interface allows patient demographic information to flow automatically from mumms® Software to the Hospices’ Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) at the time of admission, discharge or at any time the patient’s information changes. Additionally, mumms® Pharmacy Interface allows the hospices’ PBM or Pharmacy to return the prescription information required under CR 8358 back to mumms®.

“ProCare HospiceCare has been working with mumms® for several years to successfully interface their practice management software with our system. They were among the first companies to contact us and upgrade their software to meet the new CR8358 CMS reporting requirement,” said Michael Rose, Executive Vice President of ProCare HospiceCare.

“Our philosophy is not only to ensure compliance, but also to make it as seamless as possible,” said mumms® CEO, Leo Radosta. “Other vendors say they’re complete, but users must go through hoops to enter the information CMS requires.”

mumms® currently has pharmacy interfaces with Delta Care Rx, EHO Rx, Hospice Pharmacia, HospiScript, Outcome Resources, ProCare Rx, Wise Hospice Options and can easily add others. “This process will enable hospices to meet new CMS billing requirements by utilizing their existing PBM and EMR processes, reducing the amount of staff time required to collect and input this information,” said Penelope Gatlin at Outcome Resources. Gatlin adds, “In an increasingly regulatory environment, partnerships such as those between Outcome Resources and mumms® are becoming essential for hospices to succeed.”
