"Breaking Bread for Peace": An Exploration by an Airline Pilot Toward Peace, Charity, and Good Eating
Bolton Landing, NY, October 05, 2007 --(
PR.com)-- Join Kelly Baker, new Author and Airline Pilot in a virtual and collective "breaking of bread" to promote mindfulness and good eating in an effort toward building peace on the planet.
Along with recipes from around the world, displayed colorfully with artistic offerings to complement, are themes of new thinking that are meant to inspire a closer connection with our brothers and sisters, near and far.
Timely and historical consideration of people, food, place and the struggles we face as humanity are considered. The themes not withstanding, the book is intended as a fund raiser for the prenatal program "!,2,3... Hi Baby!" a charity in great need of funding in the impoverished Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, South Dakota.
"From meeting people, in my world travels as a pilot, and from friends of both "real life" and "virtual on-line", I have been blessed with great friendships, and with them I am graced with the generosity of sharing. This collection of recipes and artwork is a world project filled with the work of kind and varied people, but with the many common and unifying aspects of humanity. In addition to those works donated, I have created some of my own canvases and photography to complement many of the recipes." Kelly Baker
As a sample, acclaimed Nigerian Photographer Muyiwa Osifuye, on show now in London, offered his bit of Nigeria, and we also get a glimpse into the "Old West" with a chuck wagon meal of the first surveyors. Family recipes of holidays and all things celebrated are kindly offered as fellowship, as cultural sharing, and lends to preservation of aspects of dying, or lost cultures.
So many tastes and flavors are forgotten in these days of the "same old same old": these recipes offer a refreshing journey for our palate and the chance to enjoy other peoples "comfort food" while contributing to a worth cause.
