)-- Prolific ultraunner Anne McClain from Youngwood, PA has been granted the 2014 YWCA Sportswomen of the Year – Committee’s Choice Award for the YWCA of Westmoreland County. Anne has become an extremely accomplished and inspiring athlete since overcoming a horrific accident that nearly left her crippled. Throughout the 2013 race season, Anne finished competitively in multiple USA Ultrarunning National Championships, ranging from 50 miles to 24 hour endurance events. Anne was recently highlighted in the Platform Magazine, featured as Wheaties Champion of the Week for January 2014 and a recipient of the 2013 USATF Phidippides Award. The competition for the award was extremely competitive, which included many of phenomenal nominees.

Anne McClain, an accomplished ultra-runner, has competed in the North Coast 24 Endurance Run, Burning River 100-Mile Endurance Race, Oil Creek 100 Trail Runs (100K), and over half a dozen 50K events. In 2013 Anne finished an impressive 12th overall with a time of 10:36:39 at the 2013 USA Track & Field 50 Mile Road National Championships in Boalsburg, PA. This race qualified Anne to receive a Gold Phidippides Award for outstanding performance and endurance in long distance running for 2013.
Anne's passion for running is exhibited in the fact that there is no distance she will not tackle. She also tested herself in the world of triathlons doing her first Sprint Triathlon and placed 1st in her age group. In 2014 she will be competing in several USAFT National Championships that include Tussey Mountainback 50-Mile Ultra.
For 2014 she will be running the Pine Creek Challenge 100 mile trail race in Wellsboro, PA, the Gettysburg North-South Marathon, the Harrisburg Marathon as well as several smaller races consisting of marathons, half marathons and 50Ks. She is looking to qualify for the Boston Marathon and Western States in 2014.
Anne's dedication to running pushes her to inspire others to do the same. She believes we all have the capability. She has started the year out training hard working with Scott Yeckley at Innate Performance Training Center in Youngwood, PA and is already on track for a 100 mile training schedule.
