The tradeoff has always been with the cost of technology, cost of automation versus the cost of doing it manually the old-fashion way. During the recession everyone laid people off. So, all of a sudden, businesses had to figure out how to do more with less. As business has been picking back up, people are saying, we laid all these people off and we are operating pretty well. We do not want to increase our labor levels for a variety of reasons. How do we increase our business with the same level of employment that we have? This explains the increased interest in automation and technology.”
