Marre presented a series of workshops and lectures to students, professors and community leaders at the College of Charleston prior to his keynote address, which opened DIG SOUTH. DIG SOUTH is a new Digital festival-conference that brings together thousands of young technologists and entrepreneurs to Charleston South Carolina, which is undergoing a transformational boom in high-technology business formation.
Marre's presentation titled “How to Start with Nothing, Save the World and Make a Fortune” featured his personal experience advising CEO Jeff Jordan, who founded his company as a 17-year-old high school student. Now 30, Jordan has recently won a $150 million contract from the FDA to help high-risk teens stop smoking. Jordan's team of psychologists and young social media mavens have succeeded by developing a series of unconventional strategies proven to actually stop risky behavior of youth who have low value for their personal health.
Marre encouraged the audience to solve the nontrivial problems of our time. He said, "If you want to make money, buy a franchise. If you want to matter, start a new business with a 21st-century value proposition."
