Wellborn, FL, April 18, 2014 --(PR.com
)-- In just a few short weeks, on June 7, the 21st Annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival will be under way in historic downtown Wellborn, Florida. The festival celebrates the annual blueberry harvest and takes place in Andrew’s Square. Admission is free. The event is the major fundraiser for the non-profit Wellborn Community Association whose mission is to enhance community life in Wellborn and its surrounding areas and care for the social, economic and physical needs of the less fortunate members of the community as means permit.
Activities will feature live entertainment comprised of local celebrities. About 100 vendors will be selling any imagined craft from handmade mailboxes, precious jewelry, hand painted pictures, knitted items, and homemade delicacies, to several food vendors selling all the favorites - elephant ears, bloomin‘ onions, fried pickles, seafood, hot dogs, sausage, hamburgers, all kinds of BBQ, kettle corn and fried Twinkies. The brand new Country Store building will be open selling blueberry pies, jams, syrup, cobbler, and muffins to take home. Blueberry cobbler or pie topped with ice cream will also be served in the Country Store. Fresh blueberries and blueberry plants will be available for sale. Many children’s amusements will be offered including water walkers, ponies, a petting zoo and more.
Their famous Blueberry Pancake Breakfast will be served from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM and includes three pancakes, three sausage links, orange juice and coffee for $5 for adults and a smaller breakfast for $3 for children. The last breakfast ticket will be sold at 9:30 AM. This year the third station will be open at the Wellborn Baptist Church on US 90. Attendees can take advantage of this by parking at the church, enjoying breakfast there, and then riding the free shuttle to the festival grounds.
The Blueberry Parade starts at 10:30am with the theme of “Together We Can.” Prizes are awarded in equestrian, float and antique car classes. This year’s Grand Marshall is James Montgomery, Chairman of the Advisory Board of The Suwannee Valley Community Foundation.
