S&B Burger Joint Pairs with Root to Rise Inc for Pay It Forward Program

On May 27, the 9th Street location of S&B's will donate 10% of daily sales to Root to Rise Inc, an Oklahoma City based nonprofit aiding in the healing of trauma victims through yoga, mindful awareness, and meditation.

Oklahoma City, OK, May 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Root to Rise Inc was founded by Oklahoma City attorney Katy Jones in 2012. Jones currently teaches all classes for the nonprofit on a volunteer basis, serving inmates, homeless teens and veterans, and other groups affected by trauma. She is starting partnerships with Allied Oklahoma and Scott Sabolich Prosthetics and Research to offer more classes beginning in June.

S&B Burger Joint, 20 NW 9th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73102, has chosen Root to Rise Inc as its Pay it Forward Program recipient for Tuesday, May 27, donating 10% of the day's sales to the organization. Jones will be on site from 11am-2pm and 5-8pm. Patrons can pick up more information about the organization and grab a tasty meal.

The mission of Root to Rise Inc is healing and empowering survivors of trauma through the practice of meditation, mindful awareness, and yoga. Practitioners learn to connect to the inner strength they possess and gain awareness of the present through the union of breath and physical postures. From this, they rise out of mental, emotional, and physical distress.

Jones' specialty yoga certifications include the Prison Yoga Project, Veteran's Yoga Project, and Yoga for Amputees. The organization has plans to spread to more Oklahoma correctional facilities, homes for the abused and neglected, and anywhere else classes are needed. Jones would like to eventually offer scholarships for inmates to receive their 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certification so they can leave their incarcerated life behind and move into society with a marketable skill, hence reducing recidivism rates.
