Lake Quivira, KS, October 15, 2007 --(
PR.com)-- After providing hundreds of thousands of dollars in food, clothing, shelter and medical aid in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina's devastating winds and water on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, Mississippi's Forgotten is awaiting official 501c3 status from the IRS.
Mississippi's Forgotten has kept in constant contact with residents still living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Many are without FEMA trailers and still lack even the basic necessities of life, much less access to health care, even with the passing of two years.
While providing services in late 2005 and early 2006, Mississippi's Forgotten efforts to open an ongoing free medical clinic and kitchen were thwarted by the Hancock County Board of Alderman.
Mississippi's Forgotten's ongoing efforts include the gathering of names and service organizations who would be willing to provide assistance in the event that another Hurricane strikes.
