Retroscribe Launches Nationwide Rental Service for Retro Video Games

Subscribers re-discover popular games from the past.

Pittsburgh, PA, June 10, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Retroscribe LLC announced today the launch of its new retro video game rental service, which allows customers to rent hard-to-find classic video games through its website on a monthly subscription basis. Retroscribe does not have due dates, late fees, commitments, or shipping fees. A customer simply signs up for a subscription package, chooses from over 150 titles to add to their rental queue, and can keep games as long as they wish. Once the games are returned in the pre-paid return shipping package, Retroscribe ships the next-available game(s) in the customer’s rental queue.

“There are millions of people that still enjoy playing classic Nintendo and Sega games,” said Bill Hecklick, founder and CEO of Retroscribe. “Many of them would much rather experience the nostalgia of playing the actual game cartridge instead of using a digital-download service. I feel we offer a great value to our customers, as our service allows gamers to play as much as they want for a low monthly price.”

To ensure that subscribers get the games they want, Retroscribe pioneered the Top 3 Guarantee program. All subscribers are guaranteed to get at least one of the top three games in their rental queue, or they’ll get a free month of service. Any unsatisfied customer can cancel with no fees or charges.

Subscribers can choose a package that allows them to have 1, 2, or 4 games rented out at a time. Prices range from $12.99/month for the Gamer package, which allows a subscriber to have 1 game out at a time - to $34.99/month for the Hardcore package, which lets a customer have 4 games out at a time.

“We learned from our research that many customers of other types of online rental services weren’t happy because they were always getting games or DVDs from the bottom of their rental queue,” said Hecklick. “I want our customers to know that we care, and we think they should be able to play the games they want, when they want them. If we don’t have a game in stock that a customer wants, I’ll personally drive to a local store and buy it to make sure the customer gets what they pay for.”

For subscribers who may have thrown away their old video game consoles many years ago, Retroscribe offers console systems to subscribers at up to 30% off retail prices, with free shipping.
