National Minority Trucking Association to Host Nationwide Seminar Series for Minority Trucking Members

The National Minority Trucking Association (NMTA) and Truckers Against Trafficking partner to educate truckers, owners/operators and carriers on how to start their own trucking business and how to help stop trafficking. Together they are making a difference!

Atlanta, GA, June 12, 2014 --(PR.com)-- To provide in-depth education, specifically tailored to the needs of minority trucking businesses, The National Minority Trucking Association (NMTA) will be hosting a series of seminars at locations across the nation between June 14, 2014 and the end of the year, titled “How to Build a Successful Trucking Business.”

NMTA Founder and CEO Kevin Reid created the national seminar tour, with over 20 seminars planned, to help educate truckers on running a successful business. “Drivers are taught to drive, but they are never taught how to go beyond that to where they can become business owners,” says Reid. “Our goal is to equip and train them, so they can fulfill their dreams. When 85 percent of new trucking businesses fail, there’s something wrong. Our goal is to help our members avoid being part of that statistic.”

Included in the educational offering of these seminars will be training material provided by Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), so minority trucking members can learn what they can do to end human trafficking along our nation’s highways. As part of their newly formed partnership with TAT, NMTA also plans on supporting TAT with a percentage of the proceeds from the seminars.

“Human Trafficking is a major problem,” Reid states, “and because our truckers are the eyes and ears of the nation’s highways, we want to join TAT in educating our drivers on the critical role they can play in stopping this horrific industry.”

“This partnership with NMTA is an exciting opportunity to increase the number of trucking industry members who will be trained on what human trafficking is and what they can do when they see it,” says TAT Executive Director Kendis Paris. “Providing our education as a part of the NMTA seminars is an effective forum for reaching a maximum number of NMTA’s members.”

The first seminar is scheduled for June 14 in Atlanta, with other seminars to be held throughout the country through the end of the year. For more information about the seminars, visit www.minoritytruckers.com.
