Largo, FL, July 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast has selected Parker Williams, a Seminole Middle School eighth-grader, as their youth ambassador to join 164 other youth during the 2014 Boys & Girls Clubs of America Triple Play Leadership Summit .The Summit will take place July 12 – 15 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., and will focus on teaching young participants new ways to eat nutritiously, increase physical fitness and form positive relationships with peers and adults.

“We are proud of Parker and are excited to send him on this new adventure as a representative of our local Clubs,” said Nita Smith, president and CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Suncoast. “He is an example of how hard work and commitment leads to success.”

The Triple Play Leadership Club Summit is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and the Amerigroup Foundation, and is part of Triple Play, the signature health and wellness program for Boys & Girls Clubs around the country. The Summit provides Boys & Girls Club members with a positive leadership experience to engage and socialize with peers, hear from fitness and health experts, explore and discuss important healthy lifestyle issues, and create practical strategies and plans to implement at their local Clubs and in their communities. This year’s Summit will offer hands-on activities that include job-shadowing for sports-related career fields, wheelchair basketball, CPR, how to be an effective game facilitator, and a peer-led panel discussion on childhood obesity.

“Amerigroup recognizes the importance of teaching our children the benefits of a healthy lifestyle at an early age,” said Rosy Cozad, Amerigroup Florida president and CEO. “We are proud that we are making a positive impact on young people like Parker, and we look forward to continued efforts with the Boys & Girls Clubs to lay the foundation for a healthier generation.”

“At the summit, Boys & Girls Club kids learn how to lead healthy lives through balanced living - staying on track with nutrition education and physical activity. We are so pleased that exceptional kids like Parker will be able to impact their communities and peers through this opportunity,” said Erika Von Heiland Strader, director of community marketing, The Coca-Cola Company and two-time U.S. Olympian. “We’re also so grateful to the United States Olympic Committee for providing such an inspiring backdrop to this event for Triple Play kid-leaders throughout the country.”
