NAFA Congratulates Chesterfield County, VA's Win of Two NACo Awards

Fleet association's treasurer and trustee Jeffery Jeter accepts on behalf of Chesterfield County.

Princeton, NJ, July 25, 2014 --(PR.com)-- In June, The National Association of Counties (NACo) awarded Chesterfield County, VA two 2014 Achievement Awards for its programs, "Managing Fleet Environmental Wastes to Mitigate Our Impacts" and "Sustainable Fleet Vehicle Replacement Program," in the category of Environmental Protection and Energy. NAFA Treasurer and Trustee Jeffrey Jeter accepted the awards on behalf of Chesterfield County. Jeter serves as Fleet Manager for Chesterfield County's Department of General Services.

"This is a tremendous occasion for Chesterfield County's fleet system, and well-earned," said NAFA's Chief Executive Officer Phillip E. Russo, CAE. "Jeff Jeter, through his efforts in his fleet, points the way forward for other fleets as well as for NAFA through our new Sustainable Fleet Standard Program."

Chesterfield County is a charter member of NAFA’s Sustainable Fleet Standard Program.

The NACo Achievement Award Program is a non-competitive awards program which seeks to recognize innovative county government programs. Only county government and state associations of counties are eligible to submit applications. Details regarding Chesterfield County's award-winning programs will be included in an expanded form on NAFA's Press Room page on the NAFA website: nafa.org

"One of the many reasons why NAFA is founding the Sustainable Fleet Standard is to help fleets move toward the kind of benchmarks and accomplishments seen in Chesterfield County's achievements," added Russo. "Seeing how their work is being recognized reaffirms our efforts."

NAFA extends congratulations to Chesterfield County on their honors.

Now in its beta phase, NAFA’s Sustainable Fleet Standard Program has accepted Chesterfield County and other charter members including: Florida Power & Light; Johnson Controls; Port Authority of New York & New Jersey; Republic Services; University of California, Davis; and Pepsico.
