The Balancing Act® on Lifetime® Announces “HELP for Children with Food Allergies” Programming; Partners with Kids with Food Allergies

Show to air new series in collaboration with Kids with Food Allergies, a Division of Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, to raise awareness around the growing numbers of kids with food allergies and to provide education and support for families.

Pompano Beach, FL, July 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Food allergies in children are on the rise, affecting nearly 6 million or 8% of children, according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.

The award-winning show The Balancing Act® airing on Lifetime TV is proud to welcome Kids with Food Allergies, a division of the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, to the show as an advocacy partner for this new series that will educate parents and provide solutions to help keep kids with food allergies safe and healthy.

The “HELP for Children with Food Allergies” series is slated to begin airing in September 2014 as part of The Balancing Act’s Health Matters, Everyday Gourmet and Family Ties programming.

“One in 13 children in America now has a food allergy. Allergic reactions to food can be serious and potentially life-threatening. It is essential for parents and caregivers to learn how to prevent allergic reactions, recognize the symptoms, and be prepared to act quickly should a reaction occur. We are thrilled to be partnering with the Balancing Act to share the latest information on food allergies and how you can keep children safe and healthy,“ said Lynda Mitchell, Vice President Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Kids With Food Allergies Division.

Throughout the series, The Balancing Act will address the various food allergies and related health information, provide food and cooking tips, recipes for back to school through the holidays, as well as help for parents on putting together an “allergy action plan” to use away from home or at school when kids are in the care of others.

“As a Mom of a child recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease, I understand the challenges a parent faces in understanding food allergy, finding a diagnosis and complying with a food allergy free healthy lifestyle. I am delighted to be partnering with Kids with Food Allergies in this effort to raise awareness and provide education and lifestyle tips for other Moms,” said Meta Circhansky, Director of Programming, The Balancing Act.
