Mountain Water Moves to Mo-Town

Detroit, MI, July 28, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Keeper of the Mountains Foundation President Paul Corbit Brown announced today that he and KOTM board member Bill DePaulo will leave Charleston Tuesday afternoon, driving a 27-foot tractor-trailer rig laden with 1080 gallons of water, destined for the inner city of Detroit on Wednesday AM. The water is being paid for by contributions collected from other West Virginians.

Brown stated that: “West Virginians know what it means to lose access to clean water, and we want to show our solidarity with the citizens of Detroit who have lost access to any water. This may be literally a drop in a very empty bucket. But if it encourages others – particularly those in the better off suburbs of Detroit – to do the same thing, those drops can turn into a river of desperately needed help.”

DePaulo added that: “If cutting off access to water for the poor, the unemployed and the infirm is the only way a municipal water monopoly can survive in the United States then we are every bit as much a 'failed state' as the third world countries we have intervened in militarily for the last decade. We can do better, and we must.”
