Lobster Stew Dinner Attracts Many

For the past 48 years, a tradition of Summer Suppers at Niantic Community Church has attracted locals, summer folks and day trippers alike. The last supper of the season is almost upon us and reservations are being accepted now for the Lobster Stew Dinner made from fresh Maine lobsters.

Niantic, CT, August 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- For the past 48 years, a tradition of Summer Suppers at Niantic Community Church has attracted locals, summer folks and day trippers alike. The last supper of the season is a lobster stew dinner that is a rare commodity in these parts according to, Maine native Sonya Hoisington. She lives in Niantic now but makes a trip to her hometown in Maine to raid her cousins lobster boat just in time to drive her catch back to Connecticut, meet up with co-chair Kim Birk and create a lobster stew with generous portions of lobster in each serving.

The meal ($20) includes a salad, corn on the cob and brownies for dessert. Alternative menu offerings for the dinner include taco or chicken salads ($12) as well as a children’s menu ($5) of hot dogs, chips and dessert. Advance tickets are required for the August 12, 5:30 p.m., dinner and are available now by calling the church office or by calling Sonya Hoisington at (860)235-0170.

“If you’ve never had fresh Maine lobster stew, here’s your chance,” said Hoisington. “From the Maine lobsterman, right to your Niantic table.”

Take-out is always available as well as seating in the air conditioned dining hall. Niantic Community Church is located at 170 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic. (860) 739-6208. Visit www.NianticCommunityChurch.org.
