Old Chatham Golf Club Instructor Helps Putnam, Fritsch to Finish in RBC Canadian Openís Top 10

Patrick Kelley Comments on the Improvements and Achievements of His Players in Recent Tournament

Durham, NC, August 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Old Chatham Golf Club, a prestigious golf club based in North Carolina’s Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Triangle area, extends its congratulations to the club’s PGA Tour instructor Patrick Kelley on helping Michael Putnam and Brad Fritsch to both finish in the top 10 of the PGA Tour’s RBC Canadian Open on July 27.

“Both Michael and Brad are achieving major strides in their golf games and turning corners in their golf careers,” said Kelley. “I’m proud of the continuous hard work they are doing to make this happen. With the end of the regular season quickly approaching, they are both making a push to clean up their fundamentals, and I will be there with them at the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro as they finish out the year.”

Putnam tied with American golfer Matt Kuchar for fourth place in the Open at 11 under. A resident Canadian, Fritsch tied with American golfer Kevin Kisner for ninth place at 9 under.

A professional since 2005, Putnam began working with Kelley in 2011. He finished 2013 as regular season leading money winner on the Web.com Tour and was voted Player of the Year. The Canadian Open marks the second time he has finished in the top 10 in his career. Putnam works with Kelley to improve his rotation in his swing and keep his depth, in order to build a powerful swing and reach more greens in regulation.

“Michael is hitting the ball longer and hitting a lot more greens,” said Kelley. “He deserves this honor after working hard to improve those parts of his game.”

Fritsch, who finished 10th in the Canadian Open, has trained with Kelley since 2006, six years after Fritsch turned professional. Fritsch, a resident of Holly Springs, North Carolina, finished 14th in last year’s Web.com Tour Finals to earn his PGA Tour card for 2014. He has finished in the top 10 three times in his career, including the Canadian Open.

“Brad and I have been working on his sequence, as he needs it to connect from the ground up, but his ball striking percentage and greens in regulation are both up,” said Kelley. “We’ve been working on increasing those percentages since the Rex Open here in Raleigh this May.”

Kelley’s professional clients have included David Mathis, Will Collins and Justin Walters. His players have won a combined 14 worldwide professional golf titles and currently play on the PGA Tour, South African Tour, Canadian Tour and Web.com Tour.
