Denver CPA Firm Replenishes Forests in Kind to the Paper It Consumes in Business

Denver CPA Firm, Bauerle and Company, P.C. is putting a new spin on the old adage “save a tree, print less” by partnering with PrintReleaf Exchange to donate up to $1050 to reforestation projects in various parts of the world based on the amount of paper it consumes in its business.

Denver, CO, August 28, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Denver CPA Firm, Bauerle and Company, P.C. is putting a new spin on the old adage “save a tree, print less” by partnering with PrintReleaf Exchange to donate up to $1050 to reforestation projects in various parts of the world based on the amount of paper it consumes in its business.

The initiative uses PrintReleaf’s technology platform that enables cloud-based paper usage tracking to determine how much it can supplement back into reforestation, thereby aiming to create a zero sum gain of its carbon footprint, at least where paper usage is concerned.

“Bauerle worked with PrintReleaf Exchange to install software onto all of our printers to measure the amount of paper we print on a monthly basis,” said Kimberly Shepheard, Bauerle marketing manager. “Now we can track printed paper usage from every employee in our Denver CPA firm to replenish a part of what we use by funding reforestation of trees used for paper products throughout the world.

The cloud-based tracking for paper usage is the first of its kind to connect the PrintReleaf Exchange (PRX) at Bauerle and Company, P.C. Each sheet of paper consumed at Bauerle’s office is offset through PrintReleaf to promote sustainable business practices and reduce the environmental impact from printing.

For Bauerle, a Denver-based small business CPA, providing financial, tax, consulting and management advisory services to businesses and individuals in the Rocky Mountain region, the connection to the PRX enables direct “releafing,” or reforesting, of its actual paper consumption. PrintReleaf plants new trees at global reforestation project sites of Bauerle’s choice.

“By the nature of our business, accounting firms use a lot of paper, especially during tax season,” said Tom Dosen, Bauerle’s Managing Partner. “By tracking the paper we are actually using, we can translate that into a number of trees to be certifiably replanted, allowing us to give back to our global community.” Bauerle’s total outlay for the PrintReleaf program will be $0.0007 per page. Printing is typically between 1.2M and 1.5M pages per year, Bauerle’s totals would be between $840 and $1,050. This translates roughly to one tree per 7,000 printed pages, or for Bauerle’s Denver accounting firm, 414 trees for one year’s worth of paperwork.

Through PrintReleaf’s integration with Global Forest Watch, a platform hosted by the World Resources Institute, customer’s interface with heat map technology that represents forest loss and gain across the globe, highlighting areas the planet needs trees most. PrintReleaf and Bauerle are now actively releafing the company’s paper consumption at reforestation sites in Brazil, Burkina Faso, Dominican Republic, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Mexico.
