)-- GTC Law Group, one of the nation’s premier IP and M&A boutique law firms, announced today that Marcel Valenta has joined the firm as counsel in its corporate transactions group. Valenta comes to GTC after years of practice at Am Law 100 law firms in Chicago, Silicon Valley and Phoenix and at one of the largest technology companies in the country headquartered in Palo Alto, California.
“We are delighted to add an attorney of Marcel’s versatility and caliber to our team,” said Lisa Trainor, GTC’s managing partner. “Marcel is a business attorney in the true sense of the word. His blend of in-house and outside counsel experience, as well as his international background, gives our clients access to an adviser with a uniquely multi-faceted perspective on resolving complex legal issues in increasingly global markets.”
Valenta, a native German, has represented a wide range of companies in their corporate transactional needs, including privately-held German Mittelstandsunternehmen, multi-national conglomerates and leading technology companies, such as Google, Autodesk, Electronic Arts and Hewlett Packard, in mergers and acquisitions. He has worked with start-ups from inception to sale and represented private and institutional investors, including some of Silicon Valley’s preeminent venture capital firms, in their financing transactions.
“With its nimble set-up and single focus on client service, GTC epitomizes the modern law firm of the 21st century,” said Valenta. “Its client base is unparalleled by other firms of similar size. As a corporate attorney, I am particularly excited to join forces with one of the best IP practice groups in the country. Protecting IP efficiently is one thing, mapping out a company's IP strategy and unlocking value not by increasing R&D spend, but by following a deliberate IP roadmap is another. Few firms are as experienced in that arena as GTC."
Valenta received his J.D. and LL.M. at Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago. He studied law in Germany and Italy and completed his Erstes Juristisches Staatsexamen (J.D. equivalent) in Germany. Valenta is licensed to practice law in Illinois, California and Arizona and serves as General Counsel to the Arizona State University Foundation for A New American University.
