Thursby Announces Another First with PKard Pro for iOS Supporting Derived Credentials
Arlington, TX, October 02, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Thursby Software announces the immediate availability of its PKard® Pro secure browser app on Apple’s App Store and iOS 8 support for all apps.

Building off three years of experience with PKard Reader app, PKard Pro provides users with an enterprise level two-factor secure browser. Enhanced features, such as support for all FIPS 201 certified PIV readers, including the Precise Tactivo readers, make this the ideal option for larger mobility deployments. Thursby has also worked with two key partners, MobileIron and Entrust, to include additional layers of support for the enterprise user.

PKard Pro works natively with the MobileIron EMM platform to give enterprise users a variety of management options, such as requiring zero data at rest. These features allow agencies to take the security of the browser to another level while still giving users the easy-to-use experience they have come to expect from PKard. (A full list of managed features is available on request.)

Thursby has also partnered with Entrust to provide the first browser to use derived credentials. With more than a decade of service to the globe’s most elite organizations and governments, Entrust helps provide identity-based security with award-winning solutions that defend against sophisticated online and internal threats, increase corporate efficiency and comply with domestic and international regulations. Beyond the features already associated with CAC/PIV authentication, the Entrust solution also allows users to provision a credential on the device either from a back-end server or directly off of the PIV card itself. Users are able to seamlessly switch between using a card or derived credentials as the situation permits by choosing which credential to use for a given action. Paul Nelson, Thursby CTO, notes, “This ability to switch between credentials will be pivotal as the government makes the transition to derived credentials. It allows the government to set policies that require either one or the other as security requires.”

All the Thursby family of iOS apps, PKard Reader, PKard Pro, and PKard Mail, have included iOS 8 support in their more recent updates. Cased sleds and plug-in readers are also available for most iPads, iPhones, and iPods, including the recent iPad Air, and are available for immediate shipment.
