Northwest Indiana Welcomes Second Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams Event

Wilson, NC, October 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The American Midwest has long been recognized for its vast spaces and friendly residents, but for many years it was also known as the location of the yearly US Open Table Tennis Teams event. Held in Detroit until 1997, the US Open Teams tournament became a yearly tradition for table tennis enthusiasts from across the United States. As junior development, elite training centers and tournament/league play have gained momentum on the coasts, the American heartland continues to lag behind. This year, Butterfly in partnership with tournament director Danny Seemiller will strive to provide a fun, friendly, and competitive event in Hobart, Indiana (45 minutes outside downtown Chicago) to encourage players from across the Midwest (and beyond) to improve their table tennis skills this Thanksgiving weekend.

The first Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams Tournament was held in Columbus, OH in 2012 with 55 teams attending. This year the event will be held in Indiana on 30-50 tables in a well-lit and high quality volleyball gym with fully barriered tables and live streaming. The tournament will mirror the event formerly held in Detroit, with 3 player teams competing in best 5 out of 9 matches. On the first day of play, teams will play preliminary matches to determine their division, and then compete within their division throughout the rest of the weekend. At the 2012 Butterfly Thanksgiving Teams Event, participants left happily exhausted after playing an average of 18-25 matches in 3 days. This year, Butterfly and Danny hope that even more players will choose to attend this outstanding event and enjoy the sport of table tennis over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

To sign up or learn more about the tournament, please visit http://butterflyteams.com or contact Danny Seemiller (574-654-7476). Early bird pricing of $549/team is available until October 25th.
