The Kids’ E-Book Bestseller List & Blog Celebrates Four Years of Sharing E-Publishing Success Stories

KidsEBook Bestsellers.com celebrates its 4th anniversary and is still currently the only weekly bestseller list of e-books for children and teens from the most popular e-book stores. It features a wekly top ten list and interviews with the bestselling authors. Over 170 interviews have been posted so far, from bestselling e-format authors for children and young adults such as Ridley Pearson, Marissa Moss, Lois Lowry and Gary Paulsen to name a few.

Dunedin, FL, November 23, 2014 --(PR.com)-- In 2010, Karleen Tauszik saw a need. Authors who were writing bestselling e-books for children and teens did not have a bestseller list. She felt strongly that they needed to be recognized and celebrated, so the popular Kids’ E-Book Bestsellers blog was born.

“When I started, there was no e-book bestseller list at all,” says Tauszik. “In fact, the New York Times did not start theirs until the following February. They still only list the general categories of fiction and non-fiction. There’s no break-out list of e-books for younger readers.”

Being an children’s author herself, Karleen felt the need to acknowledge these pioneers who were finding success in what was then a relatively new publishing phenomenon. Since her first post on this date in 2010, she has been compiling a weekly multi-store top ten list of the bestselling e-books for children and young adults. She contacts the authors and sends them a congratulatory e-mail with interview questions about their e-publishing experience.

“At first, I didn’t get any response, so I wrote my own posts about e-publishing and its impact on the world of children’s books. After three months, Marissa Moss, the author of over forty books for children, responded to my email and took part in an interview. That immediately raised my credibility. Now the author response is so great, I have weekly interviews lined up three months ahead.”

Since then, the blog has featured over 170 traditionally and independently published authors–anyone who hits the top ten for children or teens in the most popular online e-book stores. Iconic authors such as Lois Lowry, Gary Paulsen and Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield, have weighed in about their e-publishing experience. Each interview is listed alphabetically by name on the Author Index page so readers can find their favorites easily. There is also a page with links to all the archived bestseller lists, going back to the first one in 2010.

According to a recent report from TheBookseller.com, from January through June of 2014 e-book revenue grew 7.5% compared to the same period in 2013. The report states, “This was driven largely by a huge growth of e-book revenue in the children's and YA category, with a 59.5% growth compared to the same period last year.” (Source cited below.)

“That’s exciting news for these authors who write for the younger set,” says Tauszik. “I believe that each year more and more children are receiving e-readers or tablets as gifts, giving authors of e-books for kids and teens even more opportunities for success.”

Karleen is delighted by the world-wide interest in her posts. She says, “The blog not only gives the authors publicity to share with their fans, but it’s also a great resource for teachers, librarians and parents. Anyone who reads, buys, or writes books for kids and teens can benefit from the information and insights these successful authors have shared over the past four years.”
