Academy Sports + Outdoors Growth Continues; New Addition to Headquarters Tops Out in Houston

Houston, TX, November 23, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Hoar Construction recently topped out construction on Academy Sports + Outdoors’ new headquarters, marking the midway point of the project; completion is scheduled for spring of 2015. The expansion supports Academy Sports + Outdoors’ continued growth throughout the South and Midwestern U.S. over the next several years.

The second corporate office building is an addition to the existing Academy Sports + Outdoors headquarters and distribution center in Katy, Texas. This second office building will be four stories, approximately 200,000 square feet and will include a six-story parking garage. The two buildings will be connected via walkway.

Marc Maddox, Project Superintendent for Hoar, said, “We are really striving to practice design and BIM coordination, as well as utilizing new technologies such as tracking progress and schedule performance with Trimble/VICO software. All of this in an effort to aide in expediting this process, meeting the deadlines and giving Academy Sports + Outdoors associates the additional office space, assembly area and parking facilities they need.”

“We continue to expand throughout the South and Midwestern United States as well as focus on our omnichannel efforts to ensure we are meeting customer expectations,” said Ken Attaway, Academy Sports + Outdoors’ executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We have outgrown our current office space, and this expansion project will support our growth for years to come.”

The project team includes Kirksey Architects, Cardno Haynes Whaley (structural engineering), LJA (civil engineering), and DBR (MEP engineering.)
