A Rhode Island Local Releases National Music Single with Rock Royalty

Tama Girard Steps out from "Behind-the-Scenes," and Some of the Industry Greats Step in to Lend a Hand.

Providence, RI, December 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Tama Girard, a decorated music writer, has recorded a new single "Sold For Free," recorded with legendary icon Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme, Rihanna). The Single has been mastered by another legend, Jonathan Wyner (Aerosmith, David Bowie, Nirvana, James Taylor) whose expertise in sound engineering and mastering takes this single to a whole new level.

Girard is a noted singer, songwriter and music producer from Rhode Island who co-produced the soundtrack for the movie "Hard Luck" with co-producer/writer Mike Sahagian (Britney Spears, girlbionic). The duo worked on that film with Wesley Snipes, Cybil Shepard and director Mario Van Peebles. Shortly thereafter, Tama then went on to write, produce and perform the song "Choices" which was featured in the Emmy Award Winning documentary film "The Impact of Your Choice."

Girard said in an interview, "Recently, there has been an overwhelming calling by the public to put the actual face of the writer to their own music, because the behind-the-scene writers' face, is the exact same average face of the listener and the consumer, (who are ultimately responsible for every artist's success). It seemed too shocking to the consumer, learning that a lot of their favorite pop-artists, weren't actually the writers of their own music. So ultimately, the public just wanted to know." "Who?" Girard says, "People like One Republic's front man-Ryan Tedder, Sia, and Charli XCX, are just some of the behind-the-scenes writers who were writing for celebrity singers, record companies and film houses, who are now catapulted forward by public demand, and in turn becoming the face of their own art and music." Although Sia, even until this day, performs with her back to the crowd (as seen on Ellen), still becoming acclimated to being in that role.

When Girard contemplated putting out his own National Singles, he always knew who he would solicit when it came time for the first one, and that was Nuno Bettencourt. "I approached Nuno about playing on the track. And of course, nothing was solidified by him at that point of our conversation, because it all really came down to the music. So, I gave him a disc of what I had recorded on the track, and waited to hear back from him. The following day I got a text message. "Hey, man. Nuno here. The song is great. Let's do it," and the rest was history.

The Single "Sold for Free" (featuring Tama Girard & Nuno Bettencourt) became available yesterday and was released on Giovanni Feroce's Record Label, GF Entertainment.
