PR.com)-- Altius Information Technologies, Inc. has recently launched Green Technology™ an environmentally conscious technology program that helps protect the Earth’s climate by offsetting the CO2 emissions related to the use of IT products.
Altius IT, in partnership with The Conservation Fund, Carbonfund.org, and Dell, is making it easy and affordable for businesses and individuals to “go zero” by measuring and then offsetting their carbon emissions associated with the electricity generated to power an extended portfolio of IT products – simply by planting trees. Additionally, participants can offset the estimated total one-year carbon impact of an average person by donating $99 to the program. 100 percent of the donated funds facilitate the planting of native trees.
The Conservation Fund is the nation’s top-rated environmental non-profit organization by the American Institute of Philanthropy, and its climate-change programs, including Go ZeroSM, have resulted in the planting of more than nine million trees that will trap more than 13.5 million tons of CO2.
Carbonfund.org is a non-profit organization that educates the public about the dangers of climate change and makes it easy and affordable for individuals, businesses and organizations to reduce their climate impact.
100% Donated
One hundred percent of Altius IT Green Technology ™ Program donations go to non-profit partners, The Conservation Fund and Carbonfund.org Foundation, to plant trees in sustainably managed reforestation projects.
Donation amounts are based on expected average carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from the production of electricity needed to power systems over three years. For example, use of a notebook corresponds to approximately .45 tons of CO2 emissions and desktops are 1.26 tons. The cost of the carbon offset is $5 per ton. On average, a tree will sequester 1.33 tons of CO2 over 70 years through the program.
The Green Technology™ sustainability program is available to businesses and individuals with no product purchase required.
