Nominations Are Open for Brand New Award: the Gertrude Crain Award

Prestigious Award Recognizes Female Executive within the B2B Media and Information Industry

Washington, DC, January 10, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The ABM and Content divisions of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) are accepting nominations for a new award, the Gertrude Crain Award. The Gertrude Crain Award recognizes a leader within the B2B Media & Information community who embodies the SIIA Women's Leadership and Networking Council's mission of excellence, service and success.

The Award honors Gertrude Crain, chairman of Crain Communications and a legendary figure in B2B media. Gertrude Crain was the longtime treasurer of Crain Communications before becoming chairman in 1973, and then leading Crain Communications for over twenty years until 1996 when she passed away at the age of 85.

Reflecting on his mother’s record of service and success, Gertrude's son Rance Crain also commented on her humanity. “My mom made it her legacy to build on one of our most important attributes, that we are a family company. She laughed with our people, she cried with them, and she celebrated the milestones of their lives with them. She kept us special, and my brother Keith and I and our families are intent on keeping that spirit alive as we approach our 100th anniversary."

Candidates can self-nominate or can be recommended by others. Candidates must be women executives active in B2B media and whose companies are members of SIIA's ABM division or the Content & Information Services Division.

According to Marion Minor, ‎Owner/CEO of EPG Media & Specialty Information and Chairman of the council sponsoring the award, “The SIIA Women’s Leadership & Networking Council is thrilled that one of our first initiatives is the Gertrude Crain Award. Women have made a significant impact in the B2B media industry, and we are excited to recognize someone special who embodies the talent, warmth, industry knowledge and overall business acumen demonstrated by Gertrude Crain.”

The award will be presented on March 27, 2015, at the 61st Annual Neal Awards ceremony in New York City. All entries must be submitted electronically by 11:59 pm ET on February 9, 2015.

“We applaud ABM/SIIA for honoring Gertrude Crain, who excelled as chairman of Crain Communications from 1973-1996 and as a trail-blazing executive during her years in B2B. The Gertrude Crain Award is a terrific way to recognize and celebrate an outstanding woman who is making her mark in B2B today," said ABM Managing Director, Mike Marchesano.
