The Battlegrounds Named Newest Qualifying Event for International Sport

St. Louis run added to world championship racing list.

St. Louis, MO, March 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Battlegrounds, St. Louis’ largest permanent mud run obstacle course, was recently named as a qualifying event venue for the Obstacle Course Racing World Championships (OCRWC). The Battlegrounds is one of only two races recently added in the U.S. Others included on the list were located in Denmark, Slovakia and Canada.

Located at 950 State Highway 00 in Wright City, MO., The Battlegrounds includes a 5k/3.2-mile and a five-mile mud run featuring more than 30 military-themed obstacles. As a new qualifying event race for the OCRWC, The Battlegrounds’ participants can qualify for their upcoming international race by finishing in the top 20 in their gender in either distance. The Battlegrounds next race is set for Sat., May 2 at 8 a.m.

OCRWC is the first truly independent championship event designed to celebrate the athletes in the burgeoning sport of Obstacle Course Racing. The race will be held on Sat., Oct. 17 and Sun., Oct. 18 in Cincinnati, Ohio and will be one of the most diverse competitive events in the sport. The two-day event will feature more than 16 racing categories including elite, age-group, and team competitions with over 50 categories for cash and prizes for athletes.

“We are truly grateful for this opportunity, which is both an honor and a privilege,” said The Battlegrounds owner Carl Bolm. “The recognition connects our athletes from St. Louis and the Midwest to other champions from around the world. That’s some amazingly powerful support, and we appreciate this partnership and all that it represents.”
