Former U.S. Surgeon General to Receive Award

Baltimore, MD, April 15, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The 18th U.S. Surgeon General, CEO and Founder of Bayou La Batre Rural Health Clinic, Dr. Regina Benjamin, will receive the Shining Star Award at the 10 year anniversary celebration of Sisters Academy of Baltimore on Saturday, April 25, 2015. The award will be given to women with lived experiences of perseverance, determination, and tenacity – all values that are revered at the Academy, and mirrors the transformation of our students and graduates. The honorary event committee consists of community leaders in philanthropy, education and health advocates: Rafael Alvarez, Sr. Helen Amos, RSM, Mary Catherine Bunting, Sr. Kathleen Feeley, SSND, The Honorable Susan Gauvey, Barbara and Sam Himmelrich, William J. McCarthy, Jr., Wes Moore, and Samuel L. Ross, M.D, and Marc Steiner.

Sisters Academy of Baltimore, a tuition-free, independent school for 5th through 8th grade girls will celebrate 10 years of documented success at its Downtown Hoedown anniversary celebration on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 7:00pm-11:00pm. This festive Western-themed event will be hosted at the historic Montgomery Park at 1800 Washington Boulevard, Baltimore, MD 21230. Chicka Fandango Productions, one of Baltimore’s premier event producers, will transform the office building into an Old-West town. The event committee and board members have been working for over a year to plan a memorable occasion to celebrate this milestone anniversary.
