Friends of Zion Shine a "Light in the Darkness" on Yom Hashoah Heritage Museum to Honor Holocaust Victims as Well as Christian Heroes Who Aided Jews in Need

Duluth, GA, April 17, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Each year on April 15, the people of Israel stop to observe Yom Hashoah, a day of remembrance for the six million Jews lost to the Holocaust. On April 15, 2015, the newly opened Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem joined together with over 1,000 churches worldwide to present "Light in the Darkness," a half hour television special commemorating those souls lost to the Nazi genocide. Produced by Legacy Worldwide, this special celebrated and honored Christians throughout history who placed themselves in the line of danger to save the lives of their Jewish brothers and sisters.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the recently reelected Prime Minister of Israel, spoke on the significance of Yom Hashoah during the event, and the important role Israel’s supporters around the world have in preserving the Jewish people’s ability to remain a unified nation. Former President of Israel Shimon Peres also appeared to share his own story, and to explain how one act of bravery by a Christian changed his family’s life.

The special also featured interviews with Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, as well as Israeli General Yossi Peled, who serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Friends of Zion Heritage Center. Additionally, the program included images from a recent ceremony honoring U.S. President George W. Bush as a Friends of Zion Award recipient.

Damon Davis, president and CEO of Legacy Worldwide, expresses his sentiments, “This is a monumental project that has historic significance. Our team at Legacy Worldwide is honored to be a part of it.”

Over 1,000 churches around the world viewed this special together on Wednesday evening by way of eight satellite feeds, Internet streaming and DVDs provided by the Friends of Zion Heritage Center. The full 35-minute special is currently available online at 6million.com.

Viewers are invited to visit 6million.com, where Christians from across the world will have the opportunity to add their name to a dedication registry, listing one Christian for each Jewish man, woman and child who lost their lives in the Holocaust. When the list reaches 6 million names, the registry will be closed. These 6 million names will be on display in a commemorative book at the Friends of Zion Heritage Center in Jerusalem.

The program was produced by Jerusalem Prayer Team and Legacy Worldwide. For more information on the special program, visit iwillnotforget.net. For more on the Friends of Zion Heritage Center or to book a tour, visit fozhc.org.
