International Sight Restoration Merges with Louisiana Lions Eye Bank

Combination will create new services for Louisiana Corneal Surgeons.

Shreveport, LA, May 24, 2015 --(PR.com)-- International Sight Restoration, Inc. located in Tampa, Florida and Louisiana Lions Eye Bank located in Shreveport, Louisiana announced today that a merger was filed on May 4, 2015. International Sight Restoration, Inc. (ISR) will acquire Louisiana Lions Eye Bank's service area in the greater Shreveport region. The two 501(c)3 non-profit organizations will be able to serve the global community at a greater scale by combining their resources. The merger is a testament to both companies' commitment to restoring sight worldwide. ISR, the first and only certified ISO Clean Eye Bank, plans to bring their innovative techniques, such as Nano-Cut Precise™ and Punch-Ready DMEK™, to the Louisiana location, which will provide local surgeons the ability to obtain ocular grafts for DSAEK and DMEK.

"The merger will allow us to expand our World Sight Initiative™, a public health focus to eradicate blindness," said ISR's President and CEO Christina Sanchez Miller. "I have always believed that the only way to champion corneal blindness is to provide clinical training courses and actually create new eye banks in impoverished countries. In 2014, Louisiana provided over 400 ocular grafts and ISR provided over 4700. The additional grafts will allow us to provide a larger pool of donated tissue to the local surgeons and export the surplus to countries without donation programs."

"Eye Banking is unique and requires dedicated employees that believe in our mission, Helping The World See®. Fortunately Louisiana Lions Eye Bank employees were just that. The staff will remain and we hope to add more to better serve our area." said Christina Sanchez Miller. "This will allow the Louisiana staff members to continue to provide the same great service to the surgeons and hospitals."

"I am excited to bring new innovative technology to our surgeons in Louisiana," said Denise Odom, Director of Operations Louisiana. "Our surgeons will soon be able to access the TEN™ application, which will allow them to request and accept tissue online. ISR is a paperless eye bank and efficient. The merger is a win-win for both our eye bank and the community."
