Perfekt Digital Pathology to Supply Collibio Digital Pathology Software to RCPAQAP

Collibio digital pathology software to be used by RCPAQAP.

Sydney, Australia, July 03, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Programs (RCPAQAP), who are world leaders in the provision of external quality assurance for pathology laboratories in Australasia, have announced their commitment to use Pixcelldata's digital pathology software for whole slide image visualisation for a minimum 10 year term. RCPAQAP will also use the Collibio software suite for ingest, display and management of images hosted for external clients.

Pixcelldata’s Australian representatives, Perfekt Digital Pathology, who are a leader in the provision of IT systems and solutions for Digital Pathology environments, have supplied and integrated the Collibio software for RCPAQAP.

RCPAQAP CEO, Dr Tony Badrick, said “We are very encouraged by the functionality available in Collibio. Since digital pathology solutions are being increasingly adopted internationally and in Australia, we decided to modernise and upgrade the interface within the QAP platform. Collibio enables us to present digital slides from multiple digital slide scanners from one seamless interface.”

Craig Tamlin, General Manager of Information Management Solutions at Perfekt Digital Pathology said, “We are very pleased that RCPAQAP have chosen Perfekt as their solution partner. Many organisations in Australia are beginning to see the importance of digital pathology and Collibio is heralded by those who have used it as being best in class, without specific affinity to any one brand of slide scanner.”

About RCPAQAP
The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA, the College) was established to ensure education and improvement in standards and ethics in Pathology. RCPAQAP established external quality assurance programs as far back as 1961, however, these programs eventually became so large and complex that in 1988, RCPA Quality Assurance Programs Pty Ltd (RCPAQAP) was formed as a stand-alone independent company.

RCPAQAP currently offers programs in all disciplines of pathology including Chemical Pathology, Haematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology and Anatomical Pathology. Traditionally the Anatomical Pathology program issued test material in the form of glass slides but as the program expanded difficulties sourcing the volume of test material required to meet program needs became difficult. In 2006 the introduction of virtual images replaced the glass slides used in the diagnostic programs enabling the program to provide the exact same image to all participants for diagnosis. The introduction of virtual images provides the program with an opportunity to use a wider range of tissue types for proficiency testing. Digital images are now used by the Anatomical Pathology, Cytopathology and Haematology Morphology programs.
