Initially, we can garner a great deal of information through contacts with existing office-based anesthesia practices. New York City has a very mature practice called “Resource Anesthesiology Associates” under the direction of Dr. Mark Koch. Another location with a very mature practice is called “Mobile Anesthesia Associates” under the direction of Dr. David Barinholtz in Chicago. These were the first office-based anesthesia practices to seek accreditation under the office-based anesthesia accreditation standards by the AAAHC. A third location is managed by Dr. Louis Guzzi in Orlando, Florida. My intention is to visit with these practices under the Cleveland Clinic Staff Innovation Trip Program and report on how these practices are run, the challenges they have faced and conquered, and their future expectations for their services.
